Why Body Care Products Aren’t Just for Ladies Anymore.

Why Body Care Products Aren’t Just for Ladies Anymore.

I admit it. I splurge and indulge at my standing appointment once a month at the spa for what I call pure heaven on earth- a deep, relaxing (yes, pricey) facial.  I’m not what one would consider a “girly-girl”, most of the time my hair is in a messy pony, minimal make up and what my husband calls a, “good thing you are taken” favorite pair of old sweatpants.

I have been going for many years, to an upscale and popular salon and noticed a change a couple of years ago- more and more I was seeing men, not just getting their haircut but massages, facials, hot shaves and even pedicures.  I know how good it makes me feel both inside and out taking this 90 minutes for myself. Life gets busy. Life gets stressful. So many unique journeys of people and what we all have in common is that sometimes we need to take a step back, relax, and treat ourselves. Women need to be encouraged to do that more often. So do men.

What I also am very aware of is that not everyone can afford these luxuries and so proudly I, with my son, have created luxury body care products for an “at home” spa experience without the high prices. We sell many products for women, but we have also put as much detailed care and attention into our men’s grooming products and that part of our business is growing rapidly.  We celebrate and encourage fun, healthy, active living individually and together as a family (we are a family owned business after all).

We are all inundated with advertisements on television, radio, magazines, internet about what we should and shouldn’t eat. But what is just as important as we put into our bodies is what we put onto our bodies.

All of our luxury body care products are made in America with the finest of ingredients. Shea butter to restore elasticity, inflammation and great for dry skin. Olive oil with powerful antioxidants and leaves skin smooth and soft. Pure Epsom salt which removes toxins from the body, reduces stress and relaxes and relieves tired achy muscles. And everything is scented with pure essential oils which is extracted from flowers, fruits and leaves and been used for centuries for fragrance and healing.

My son and I very much believe true health and happiness begins from the inside out.  We both at different times in our life have struggled with anxiety and depression. In 2012, we lost a much-loved member of our family when my brother, Ryan’s Uncle, lost his brave battle with alcoholism when he took his own life. He was only 39. So, we know firsthand how important it is to look after yourself.

We have worked hard to create products that make you feel good on the outside but that you also must feel good on the inside. Sometimes it is having a hot bath. A relaxing shower. A foot massage. At times it gives you strength just knowing that someone cares or that little bit of encouragement to know that it does not make you weak to ask for help. We have been there.

There are many other companies out there selling luxury body care and men’s grooming products, but Seriously Shea tries to be different. In our products. And in our mission. A portion of all sales of our products will be donated to Mental Illness Programs and Organizations. Your purchase will be a part of making this possible.

It is part of our commitment to not only provide healthy, affordable products but encourage conversation, empathy, compassion and help eliminate the shame and stigma surrounding Mental Health. So why aren’t body care products just for ladies anymore?  Because we all deserve to feel good, inside and out.
